Cockroach Shows

Cockroach Shows are very similar to dog shows. Owners of pet cockroaches bring their pets to a large building in which the cockroaches are judged based on physical health and ability to do tricks.

Domesticated cockroaches have become increasingly popular since 2000. High air-pollution levels in most urban areas make it impossible to have any other pets, because the pollution gives them cancer. Cockroaches, on the other hand, are resistant to pretty much everything, and are therefore perfect pets.

An average cockroach show begins with all the owners bringing their pet cockroaches in to the ring, in kennels. Then, one at a time, each owner puts his or her cockroach on a leash and walks it around the ring. At this point, a professional cockroach judge will examine the cockroach for healthy legs, antennae, and eyes.

Finally, the owner will show off any special talents that the cockroach might have, such as doing simple tricks like "sit!" "stay!" "Come!" "Do a calculus problem" or "Die!"

The winner is given $400 and a free "I won a cockroach contest, and I'm not even that much of a loser!" t-shirt. I have several.
