Karl Marx was part of a large family who were all deaf, mute and blind.

Thankfully, he broke the family tradition and was born without a sense of touch.

Tough circumstance impressed itself on young Marx.

The ice cubes he lived in provided the perfect plaice to write Das Capital.

Legacy

Sadly, soon after it was published he fell into an industrial mincer.

His biggest legacy was "Karl's dog food."
