The Native Americans, the band that glam forgot?

Their unoriginal style and bad lyrics are said to have been the key to their success.

The rise and fall of the Native Americans

The Native Americans became a group in 1975 when guitarist Glen Fuller met guitarist Ernie Lomis in a British prison. It was three years before they recorded their first album in 1978. They called the album "The Native Americans IV" because it made it sound like they had been around for a while. They realized that people would figure that the band must be good if they already have 7 albums out (they were not good with Roman Numerals).

With the instantaneous success of the first album, the band recorded a second album the next year (1979). They wanted to call it "Na Na Na Na Na, Schwep, Blah Bling Blang Na Na Na Na Na", but the label didn't let them because they wanted to create a CD box set. The box set was not as successful as the other albums, because CD players hadn't been invented yet, and albums didn't fit into the tiny boxes.
