Originally a technical term for the scrotum, around 1965 smartass journalists applied the term to the sitting President Of The United States as a very clever pun. It was soon forgotten, despite its rubbery, grodalated sound, to be replaced with the next gag word.

In recent times journalists and other idiots have begun to reappraise the term POTUS as a possibly useful term of derision. This trend has met with many a tepid stare

Notes

  • POTUS is always spelled in caps, like so: POTUS.
  • The method can be extended: Supreme Court can be referred to SCOTUS, Vice President as VPOTUS, Secretary of State as SOSOTUS, etc.
