Plumes are known as the white/multi-colored furry things that marching bands wear on their hats. The plumes are obviously sexy, because everyone in marching band makes them sexy. This article will explain how plumes were created, what some other names for plumes are, and some other uses of plumes.

Plumes: History's Greatest Achievement

It is said that years ago a farmer was standing in his house, watching his chickens. He had an unusual attraction to them, and often thought about touching them. Repeatedly. But this time the farmer had another idea. He wondered what it would look like if he wore a chicken on his head. So of course, he tried it.

This really didn't work out for the farmer, because the chicken often pecked him in the head. From this incessant pecking, the farmer became cRaZy. He ended up smacking the chicken with a frying pan. All that was left of the poor chicken after that brutal frying-pan-attacking was it's feathers. The farmer went back to his original idea of wearing a chicken on his head, except he just wore the feathers.

But the feathers wouldn't stay on his head, so he found an old hat and shoved a hole through it and stuck the feathers in.

HUZZAH! The creation of the first plume. It was totally unrelated to marching band. Ironic. Ha.
