Wet Paint

During the day, they paint the ceiling blue. They tape some cotton balls to it, to look like pretty wisps of cloud. Then they lie on their backs on the concrete floor (painted green--pretend grass). They pretend to be lounging in an open feild. Beneath a sky that isn't concrete with cheap paint smeared on it.

At night they paint the ceiling black. They tape some dying fireflies to the ceiling. They pretend the feeble light from the fireflies is actually the light of millions of stars. They pretend to be in fresh air rather than suffocating and putrid. Air.

For sunset, they tie a lightbulb to a string. The lightbulb is their sun. They lower it over a horizon they build out of construction paper and tape.

They lie awake at night, under the starlight from a dying insect's ass.
