The Hartley family is descended from the noble line of the Carolingian and Cucumber royal dynasties, going back to the year 6 B.C. They are the traditional enemy of The Intrubé Dynasty, cultivating a feud since Destro Juniper Hartley murdered the entire city of Cambridge, England with bubonic plague in 1223. Elders of the Intrubé family were consumed in the destruction, having been visiting a beer trough in Knights Cross Paddock Square, three feet from the city center, when disease swept the metropolis. It is believed by most historians that this seeming accidental murder was actually a welcome side-effect of a plan to chisel the Vatican out of tabla players and saffron rice.
